A Raisin in the Sun

Cherokee Street Development League (a nonprofit that seeks to promote arts and cultural programming on Cherokee Street & South City STL) with Encore! Theater Group aim to bring Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun to life.

Set in Chicago’s South Side, A Raisin in the Sun charts the divergent dreams of three generations of an African-American family struggling to forge an identity in a racially segregated world. As one of the most powerful and beloved American plays ever written, it illustrates the family’s struggle for dignity, a better life, and the backlash that erupts “deferred dreams”.

11th Annual Print Bazaar on Cherokee Street

Print Bazaar on Cherokee, formally known as Cherokee Print League Holiday Sale, is an annual Holiday event that celebrates the art of printmaking, print, and the art of making things. Now in its' 10th year, Print Bazaar on Cherokee is Saturday, December 1st, 10:00AM - 6:00PM and provides holiday shoppers with creative ways to complete their shopping lists, supporting both handmade artists and the local economy. Participating businesses open up their shops to local artists for the day.  Over 100 artists participated last year and we normally have about 25 businesses on Cherokee Street participate.  It is free for businesses to participate.

Please visit https://cherokeeprintbazaar.com/ for more information detailing the event and how to participate as a business or signup as an artist.
